 MINE LOCATION AND ROADS

HOME > ABOUT OUR MINE > MINE LOCATION AND ROADS

Note to Visitors: Jakarta is 700 km from Pangkalan Bun and takes 1 hour and 15 minutes to fly. IMP Mine is 123 km from Pangkalan Bun which takes about 3.5 hours to drive via standard SUV. A mine visit trip from Jakarta will cost a total of $ 400 round trip, including airfare, travel and accommodations.

MINE LOCATION

IMP's Mine is located in Central Kalimantan Province, in Seruyan District, about 10 km from Rantau Pulut village (see Our Neighbors for more information on Rantau Pulut). IMP mining concession has internal roads connected directly to Seruyan Regency roads. These Regency run from Rantau Pulut, via the IMP concession, leading south to interconnect with the Provincial road that extends to the Kumai jetty (noted below as IMP Primary Jetty), to the IMP Jetty nearer Pangkalan Bun, identified as the Secondary Jetty. Pangkalan Bun with its public jetty is only a further 20 km beyond that point.

MINE ROADS TO JETTY

Hauling trucks travel from the mine to the IMP dedicated jetty, which is located on the Kumai River at Pangkalan Banteng, Sebukat, some 36 km north of Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan.  The jetty is approximately 87 km south of the mine, taking trucks around 5 hours to travel one way.

Roads within IMP are dirt and gravel, and do require constant grading.  IMP has already upgraded the internal roads and strengthened five small bridges to ensure access, in both rainy and dry season, from the mine to a provincial road the runs through the IMP concession.  This benefits both the mine and the local people traveling to Pangkalan Bun through the IMP concession.

The roads used by trucks for hauling Concentrate from the mine to the jetty within the concession, including a provincial road that travels through the concession and is used by the general public, will be maintained by IMP as a part of IMP's CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) obligations, and IMP will be prepared to repair provincial roads near to the mine but not in its concession as may be required in order to ensure hauling is reliable and access to the primary roads going to Kumai and Pangkalan Bun are available for all residents of Rantau Pulut and the surrounding area.
