SMELTING & PURIFICATION

AN INSPIRATION:  The New Boliden Odda Zinc Smelting Plant

IMP will partner to build a co-located Lead Smelting & Purification Plant and Zinc Smelting & Purification Plant at Modern Cikande Industrial Estate, Banten, one hour drive time from central Jakarta, Indonesia.  Based on an extensive Detailed Feasibility Study, IMP has determined the following co-located Lead and Zinc Smelting & Purification Plant specifications:

SPECIFICATIONS

Input Capacity Lead Concentrate:  63,000 metric tons per year

Input Capacity Zinc Concentrate:  105,000 metric tons per year

Output Capacity Lead Ingot:  Up to 36,000 metric tons per year

Output Capacity Zinc Ingot:  Up to 53,500 metric tons per year

Land requirement:  12 hectares

Electricity requirement:  40 MW - to be provided by PLN (Indonesia's national electrical provider)

Build Time:  Cold Commissioning June 2022, Hot
Commissioning July  2022, the Date of achievement  of Commercial Operation (COD) by August 1,  2022

EPC SELECTION

IMP has selected a proposal from Metallurgical Corporation of China (MCC) to build the plants, whom have provided the following basic design concept.  In Q2 2020, IMP expects to contract with MCC to do a Front End Engineering Plan so that a more specific plan for review will be completed.  This plan will then be reviewed by an independent engineering firm specializing in Zinc and Lead smelting and purification in Q3 2020.  When the analysis is complete at the end of Q3, the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) Agreement will be signed, the land will begin to be purchased with 12 equal payments, and the NTP (Notice to Proceed) will be delivered to MCC to commence Detailed Engineering and Construction on a 22 month schedule of completion by July 2022.  See Operations Planning for more details.

PLANT DESIGN CONCEPT

This plan requires 12 to 15 hectares of land, which will be contracted and purchased over a period of 18 months from the start of construction.

PLANT LOCATION CONCEPT
Modern Cikande Industrial Estate, Serang, Banten Province, Java, Indonesia, 45 minutes drive from Jakarta.  The primary reason for this choice of location is that PLN has a glut of electricity in the area and is willing to provide 40 MW of electricity directly.
Modern Cikande Industrial Estate provides land with a completed and irrevocable AMDAL (environmental permit) allowing construction to begin immediately, even as construction licenses are applied for from the government.  IMP is currently exploring a 15 hectare plot as seen above.
